Winners of Screen Nation Awards 2011
The winners of the Screen Nation Film & TV Awards 2011 were announced at a star-studded ceremony at London’s IndigO2 on Sunday the 16th October 2011. The event was attended by crowds of people delighted to celebrate the achievements of culturally diverse talent in Film and Television, which included British talent, as well as stars from around the world.
This year’s stellar line-up of winners included amongst other legendary broadcaster Sir Trevor MacDonald OBE – Edric Connor Inspiration Award, Clint Dyer - Male Performance in Film, Sherrie Silver – Female Performance in Film, Nonso Anozie – Male Performance in TV, Arinze Kene – Favourite Male TV Star, Tameka Empson – Favourite Female TV Star, Daniel Kaluuya – Young Shooting Star, Tinie Tempah – Favourite Music Video Performance, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde – Favourite West African Female, The Mirror Boy – Independent Spirit Film Production and Best West African Film, Majid Michel – Favourite West African Male, Luther – Diversity in Drama Production, and Anuvahood – Favourite Urban Movie.
The Screen Nation Film & TV Awards was founded by Charles Thompson MBE, an Independent Film Producer with over 20 years experience in the UK film & TV industry. “It has been an honour as always to host the Screen Nation Film and Television again this year. The winners in each category reflect the wealth of talent that is embedded in our industry. By rewarding such individuals my hope is that this platform is used to showcase excellence on a global scale.”
The creative team who organised the nomination process and award ceremony also includes the talented and much loved presenter Josie d’Arby as Event Director. “This was my first Screen Nation as Event Director and I am so proud to see so many of my peers and all the guests that attended to celebrate the achievements of such overwhelming talent.”

Film & Television Award Nominations Announced
The Nominations for Screen Nation 2011 Awards taking place on 16th October 2011
The nominations have been announced for Screen Nation Awards 2011. Presented by ITV News Reader, Charlene White and Waking the Dead actor Wil Johnson, guests were delighted to hear the names of the talented film and television nominees as their names were revealed at an exclusive nominations party, held at Revolution Bar in London. Twenty-two awards categories were announced which included Male Performance in Film, Favourite TV Star, Diversity in Drama Production, Favourite Urban Movie, Favourite International Film and Favourite Music Video Performance.
Many outstanding television, film & music stars are up for nomination, including Jimmy Akingbola, Arnold Oceng, Noel Clarke, Naomie Harris, Nonso Anozie, Levi Roots, Lorraine Pascal, Angela Griffin and Wretch 32. This year’s Special Honorary Awards will be awarded to Sir Trevor McDonald OBE, Edric Connor Inspiration Award; Clarke Peters, Outstanding Contribution Award; Amanda Foster, Vanguard in Stunt work; Burning an Illusion, Classic Movie Award; and The Real McCoy, Classic TV Series Award.
Charles Thompson MBE, CEO of Screen Nation, was also congratulated on his achievement of recently being awarded in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
The nominations party was an excellent platform for the forthcoming Screen Nation Awards Ceremony taking place at the prestigious Indigo2, showcasing that it will be a glamorous, star studded event and set to be the best yet. The ceremony will be hosted by
Angellica Bell and Michael Underwood.

REWARDING EXCELLENCE – CELEBRATING DIVERSITY
The Screen Nation Film & TV Awards 2011 annual ceremony aka the ‘Black Baftas’, celebrating outstanding achievements and diversity on the British screen, will take place on Sunday the 16th October 2011 at the indigO2, hosted by one of TV’s favourite couples Angellica Bell and Michael Underwood.
This prestigious event has built a reputation as the UK’s only international ceremony to recognise the achievements of culturally diverse talent in Film and Television. The 7th annual event celebrates British talent as well as stars from around the world with a star studded award ceremony, live entertainment and after show Ball.
Past recipients of awards include Hollywood legends Morgan Freeman and Danny Glover as well as top tier UK talent, David Oyelowo, Thandie Newton, Naomi Harris and Noel Clarke. The Screen Nation Film & TV Awards is proud to announce that this year’s Honorary Awards will be bestowed upon legendary broadcaster Sir Trevor McDonald OBE – Edric Connor Inspiration Award, leading African-American actor Clarke Peters – Outstanding Contribution Award, the UK’s only black stuntwoman Amanda Foster – Vanguard in Stunt Work Award and the seminal The Real McCoy – Classic TV Series Award, and Burning an Illusion – Classic Movie Award. The full list of categories and much sought after nominations will be revealed in September and highlights of the ceremony will be screened in late October on OH TV (Sky199).
